Overview
The Khumbu is home to the Sherpa people, Sagarmatha National Park and the most famous trek on earth. Most itineraries fly to Lukla and walk through Namche Bazaar and Tengboche towards Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, with Gokyo’s turquoise lakes as a quieter alternative.
This is high-altitude country: nearly every lodge above Namche sits over 3,400 m. Acclimatisation days are not optional, and itineraries that skip them are a red flag.
