Overview
Chitwan National Park protects one of the last large populations of the greater one-horned rhinoceros, along with Bengal tigers, gharial crocodiles and more than five hundred bird species. Jeep and canoe safaris run from Sauraha and the quieter western villages around Meghauli.
The park sits in the subtropical Terai, so expect heat and humidity for much of the year. Winter mornings are cool and misty, which is also prime wildlife time.
